Citytv Unveils Festive Favourites

This holiday season, prime time is family time on Citytv – the destination for festive holiday fun covering everything from giving and gifting, to fashion and singing – we’ve got it wrapped. Citytv has everything to make the season merry and bright when internationally acclaimed Canadian crooner Michael Bublé returns with another celebrity-packed Christmas special, Michael Bublé: Home for the Holidays (Dec. 10). Plus, take the stress out of the season as Canada’s favourite daytime host Tracy Moore navigates the holidays with Cityline’s Ultimate Holiday Guide (Dec. 10),the one-stop destination for everything including gifting, hot holiday outfits, yuletide entertaining, and festive décor. Families nestle together for a sweet treat as feature film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Dec. 9) brings the magic of the season to life with whimsy and fun, and the true meaning of the holidays shines in original Citytv specials Citytv Carol Sing (Dec. 21)and the Herbie Special (Dec. 22),showcasing the heartwarming stories of courageous children around the world. Cozy up with some cocoa and bring on some cheer, because “yule” love the month of December on Citytv.

Below is a chronological listing of the holiday specials for December 9 – December 31 on Citytv. All programming is subject to change.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Sunday, Dec. 9 

Take an unforgettable, magical journey through director Tim Burton's deliciously delightful, whimsically wonderful world of in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. When eccentric candy man Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) promises a lifetime supply of sweets and a tour of his chocolate factory to five lucky kids, penniless Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) seeks the priceless golden ticket that will make him a winner. Thanks to his Grandpa Joe (David Kelly), Charlie gets the prize of his dreams – but a far more wonderful surprise than he could ever imagine awaits him.

Cityline’s Ultimate Holiday Guide : Monday, Dec. 10 

Start a new tradition this year with Cityline’s Ultimate Holiday Guide! In this prime-time special, host Tracy Moore and trusted Cityline guest experts showcase everything viewers need to get ready for the bustling holiday season. Cityline’s three chefs put a new twist on a holiday recipe, fashion experts Sandra Pittana, Lynn Spence and Lisa Rogers present hot holiday outfits, and interior designers Kimberly Seldon and Brian Gluckstein give ideas on how to take a front door from functional to festive. With more than 50 guest experts in-studio – everything from food, fashion, beauty, and décor for the holiday season will be featured on this special show. Plus, acclaimed Canadian vocalists The Tenors stop by the studio to serenade the crowd.

Michael Bublé: Home for the Holidays: Monday, Dec. 10 

This night is anything but silent when Canadian singing sensation Michael Bublé returns with another star-studded holiday Christmas special. Filmed in his hometown of Vancouver, the multi-Grammy-Award®-winning singer is joined by guest stars Rod Stewart, Blake Shelton, fellow Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen, and even Elmo, on songs including “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Let it Snow,” “All I want for Christmas is You,” and “Winter Wonderland.” Plus, with a little magic, Bublé performs a special duet with Bing Crosby of the classic "White Christmas.” Plus, from December 4 to December 10, Citytv’s Breakfast Television will give viewers the opportunity to see Michael Bublé in concert in London, England. 

Citytv Carol Sing:Friday, Dec. 21 

The sounds of the season come alive from Toronto’s Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in the second annual Citytv Carol Sing. Hosted by Citytv’s Gord Martineau, viewers will be entertained with music of the holidays, performed by international opera stars Richard Margison (tenor), with daughter Lauren Margison (soprano), along with Russell Braun (baritone). The concert will also feature traditional Christmas carols performed by the Canadian Children’s Opera Company and the True North Brass, accompanied by William Maddox on the organ, along with the Larkin Singers, and choirs from Christ Church Deer Park and Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. Plus, award-winning actress Fiona Reed will delight viewers with a reading.

Herbie Special: Saturday, Dec. 22 

Citytv brings viewers an inspirational one-hour special this holiday season, featuring the stories of courageous children from around the globe who have come to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children to receive life-saving surgeries they can’t get at home, courtesy of the Herbie Fund. Hosted by CityNews anchor Gord Martineau, viewers will get a glimpse into his travels to Ethiopia where he meets with some of these young patients and their families.

Plus, enjoy holiday-themed episodes of beloved Citytv shows, including New Girl, 2 Broke Girls, Don’t Trust the B---- , Modern Family, Suburgatory, and more. Details to be announced at a later date.
