CKNW AM980 Announces New Midday Host

News-talk radio, CKNW AM980 is pleased to announce Simi Sara as the station's new midday host, beginning August 22, 2026. The Simi Sara Show can be heard every weekday afternoon  and features local news covering Metro Vancouver, interviews with today's newsmakers and breaking news as it happens. Simi joins the likes of Philip Till, Bill Good, Jon McComb and Dan Russell as CKNW continues to deliver award-winning local news and sports coverage.

"We are thrilled to welcome Simi to the CKNW news-talk team on a full time basis," said Tom Plasteras, Program Director, CKNW AM980. "Simi brings an extremely accomplished resume and passion for local news to our stellar lineup of talk show hosts."

Born and raised in Vancouver, Simi's career started as a print reporter for The Surrey Leader and she has worked in television for almost 20 years reporting, writing, producing and anchoring various broadcasts throughout the province. During this time she covered many major events in B.C. and around the world, including the shooting of the Mounties near Mayerthorpe, Alberta and 9/11. In addition, Simi hosted City Cooks, a popular cooking show and is a two-time British Columbia Association of Broadcasters award winner.
