CTV Edmonton Launches Morning Show

      Edmonton is about to get a local morning show like no other. Launching Monday, October 17, CTV Morning Live features breaking local news, frequent detailed traffic reports, and up-to-the-minute weather forecasts for the viewers of Edmonton, central, and northern Alberta. Airing weekday mornings from 5:30 - 9 a.m., CTV Morning Live promises to be an energetic, lively three-and-a-half hours of everything viewers need to start their day.

    "We've heard what our viewers have been asking for," said Glenn Kubish, Director of News and Public Affairs, CTV Edmonton. "They're busy, they have a lot to accomplish in their days, and they want to start with a fast, fun, professional and interactive broadcast. We're proud to call that CTV Morning Live!"

    On the heels of a major news expansion at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the introduction of CTV Morning Live further demonstrates CTV's commitment to serving the local needs of viewers. "We have over 50 years of tradition providing local news to Edmonton, central, and northern Alberta," said Lloyd Lewis, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Edmonton, "To more than double our efforts the way we have truly honours that heritage and boldly steps forward."

    CTV Morning Live provides viewers in Edmonton with the option of receiving live local morning news in addition to the national perspective provided by CANADA AM, which continues to be available live in Edmonton on CTV News Channel and on demand at canadaam.ctv.ca.

    Rob Williams, Co-Host - Born in Whitecourt, AB, Williams has been a valuable member of the CTV News team for over a decade. With experience both on-air and behind the producer desk, Williams is a seasoned news professional with deep roots in Alberta. "We're very excited about the opportunity this gives us to connect with the people and events at the neighborhood level," said Williams. "It's important to go beyond the breaking news and include the activities and events that make the daily lives of our viewers more interesting."

    Dez Melenka, Co-Host - A true Edmontonian, Melenka trained for her craft at NAIT before working in a range of CTV newsrooms throughout Western Canada. As comfortable as she is covering news from the streets of Edmonton, Melenka loves heading back to the farm every other week for big family dinners. "The way you begin your morning sets the tone for the entire day," said Melenka. "We can't wait to help our viewers start off with a smile, and all the information they need to get going."

    Craig Larkins, Weather Specialist -Larkins brings viewers a detailed look at the weather conditions they can expect as they begin their day, as well as an accurate forecast for the days ahead. "CTV Edmonton has such a strong commitment to weather reporting, and it's great that I can start the day building on that tradition." A newcomer to Edmonton, this former Winnipegger who grew up in a "football house" is ready to cheer for the Green and Gold.

    Melissa Dominelli, Traffic Specialist - Melissa Dominelli provides an up-to-the-minute, comprehensive look at traffic across the city of Edmonton and the capital region. "I grew up in Edmonton and I've watched the city's traffic grow," said Dominelli. "We have amazing resources that allow us to show our viewers real-time traffic conditions and help them get around the trouble spots."
