CTV Montréal’s Spirit of Giving campaign is now underway for 2012, aiming to give families a happier holiday season with the help of generous donations from Montréal citizens.

Amid the excitement of the holiday season, there can be a sense of sadness and disappointment for those less fortunate. Through the generosity of viewers, CTV Montréal has set as a goal to fill more than 600 boxes of non-perishable food items, and collect more than 40,000 toys and other miscellaneous goods. Once again this year, CTV Montréal joins forces with eight local charities for the initiative: Share the Warmth Foundation, Park Extension Share Store, Renaissance Montreal, MultiCaf, West Island Assistance Fund, Dans La Rue, La Mosaique, and N.D.G. Food Depot. These charities were carefully selected, according to a variety of criteria to ensure that they support different low-income neighborhoods on the island of Montréal.

“Every item donated to the CTV Montréal Spirit of Giving campaign helps each of our participating charities meet the needs of families in our community,” said Louis Douville, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Montréal. “The overwhelming generosity of our viewers paired with the dedication of our partners – like the YMCAs of Quebec and the English Montréal School Board – helps support thousands of less fortunate families during this holiday season.”

As the donations are collected, CTV Montréal personalities will broadcast from various participating schools beginning Tuesday, Dec. 4 through Thursday, Dec. 13. Volunteers from the Canadian Armed Forces will pick up boxes from participating schools, help sort the items, and hand over the goods to partner deserving charities.

Donations can be dropped-off at participating YMCA Centres throughout Montreal, participating EMSB schools, and of course, at CTV Montréal  during regular business hours.

Finally, businesses are encouraged to get involved as well by placing donation boxes in their buildings; pick-up arrangements have been made with Kings Transfer Van Lines, who will drop off donations to our sorting centre at Laurier MacDonald High School.

CTV Montréal and the Spirit of Giving campaign would like to thank its partners, the English Montréal School Board (EMSB), YMCA Quebec, the Canadian Military, Kings Transfer Van Lines, AGS Litho Inc., Quick Messenger Service, Mitchel Lincoln, Grand & Toy, and Laurier MacDonald High School.
