CTV News’ television and digital properties along with several Bell Media Radio stations were recognized for excellence in electronic journalism during the annual RTDNA of Canada National Conference Gala in Toronto on Saturday.

Made up of fellow electronic journalists and news managers, the RTDNA honoured CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LISA LAFLAMME with the distinguished Bert Cannings Award for Best Network Television Newscast for the fourth year in a row. In addition, CTV News Toronto’s CTV NEWS AT SIX was also honoured with the Bert Cannings Award in the category of Best Newscast, Large Market. CTVNews.ca took home the coveted Digital Media Award.

In total, Bell Media properties took home 16 awards this evening, bringing the 2015 tally of national and regional RTDNA awards to 53, plus two honorable mentions for Bell Media.

The spotlight frequently returned to Bell Media throughout the ceremony, as CTV News’ Lloyd Robertson, Host and Chief Anchor, W5, was presented with one of this year’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards, highlighting his many contributions to the field of electronic journalism. Lis Travers, Vice-President and Executive Producer, CANADA AM, received the 2015 Distinguished Service Award, presented in recognition and appreciation of outstanding contribution and exemplary distinguished service rendered for the benefit and advancement of electronic journalism. And among the recipients of the RTDNA 2015 President's Award to The Canadian Journalist, CTV News President Wendy Freeman was recognized for standing firm in protecting the RTDNA Code of Ethics.

“Our commitment to Canadians – to deliver the highest quality of news that reflects the country itself while upholding our journalistic integrity – guides our news operations across all platforms,” said Wendy Freeman, President, CTV News. “Tonight’s recognition by the RTDNA salutes the unwavering efforts of our reporters, and it is a pleasure to punctuate the privilege of servicing our audiences with top industry distinction.”

On the radio front, Bell Media’s radio stations CJAD 800 (Montréal) and Newstalk 1010 (Toronto) picked up National Award honours, garnering the Charlie Edwards Award for Spot News and Byron MacGregor Award for Best Newscast (Large Market), respectively.

“We are honoured to be recognized by the RTDNA for journalistic excellence,” said Chris Gordon, President, Bell Media Radio. “A hearty congratulations to our entire team, who every day raises the bar to inform and serve our dedicated listeners.”
