Global Edmonton announced today that its comprehensive morning news coverage is expanding to seven days a week to provide Edmonton viewers with even more details on what's happening in and around their city as well as around the world. Beginning September 11th, Global Edmonton will launch Sunday Morning News. That same weekend, the Saturday Morning News will start airing from 7am until 10am, expanding this already popular newscast by one hour with a new earlier start time.

Helmed by long-time news anchor Shane Jones, the expansion of the weekend morning news is part of a larger effort by Global Edmonton to solidify its position as Northern Alberta's most watched news provider. Both newscasts will include up to the minute weather forecasts with Kevin O'Connell and will extensively utilize Twitter and Facebook to fully engage Edmontonians.

"Adding three more hours to Global Edmonton's weekend morning news allows us to significantly boost our ability to present the news that matters most to our viewers," says Michael Fulmes, News Director, Global Edmonton. "Our new tools and delivery systems, paired with our new newscasts, will provide a whole new level of local news coverage."
