Global News Supports Toronto Fire Fighters Toy Drive

    Global News and Shaw Media are excited to once again be teaming up with the Toronto Fire Fighters to support the Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive. Contributing to the cause this year is first-time co-sponsor, Spin Master Ltd., who will make several large toy donations throughout the holiday season. Officially launching today, this charitable initiative will include Toy Drive Live, a festive, family-friendly occasion on Thursday, December 4. The event will feature a live broadcast by Global News at  at the Shops at Don Mills. Anchor Leslie Roberts will be on-site to help spread season’s greetings and will be joined by Global News’ Rosey Edeh, Susan Hay and Chief Meteorologist Anthony Farnell who will present his nightly weather report on location.

    “For more than 40 years, the Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive has been helping those in need by providing toys to children and youth across the GTA,” says Rick Berenz, President, Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive. “Global News’ continued support helped us collect over 35,000 toys and $20,000 last year alone. We hope to surpass our goal again this year and make Christmas merrier for as many families as possible.”

    Please join Global News on December 4  at the Shops at Don Mills and donate a new, unwrapped toy in exchange for food and drink from on-site vendors. Children can bring their letters to Santa and take photos with Santa and his reindeer. They can also visit Global News’ seasonal booth for holiday-themed activities. Spin Master Ltd. will have a tent on-site as well with toy activities for children. In addition, the Toy Drive Live event will feature holiday entertainment and an official tree lighting ceremony .

    Beginning   tonight, Global News’ Susan Hay will kick-off this year’s Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive live from Fire Station #123 on Bond Road. Coverage of the Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive will continue throughout the holiday season.

    Donations to The Toronto Fire Fighters’ Toy Drive can also be made by dropping off new, unwrapped toys and gift cards to any Toronto-area Fire Hall. Though the demand for toys is great for children of all ages, teens are especially in need.
