In a continuing effort to provide viewers with the most comprehensive coverage possible, Global Winnipeg announces the launch of The Morning News, its breakfast news program. Featuring the return of much-loved newscaster Eva Kovacs as Anchor, The Morning News will provide Winnipeggers with all the news they need to start their day, along with a first-hand look at traffic patterns from the city's only television news helicopter. The Morning News launches February 6 from 6-9am.

"The Morning News will provide viewers with the most detailed and up-to-date news program possible," says Troy Reeb, Vice-President, Global News. "We are pleased to both welcome back Eva, who is well-known to Winnipeg viewers, and showcase a team whose commitment to quality journalism and to the community is unparalleled."

Led by Kovacs and longtime Winnipeg news and sportscaster Derek Taylor, The Morning News will bring viewers the major local, national and international stories that developed overnight, as well as the community events happening later in the day and the week. Weather Specialist Mike Koncan will be on-hand to provide accurate weather forecasts as well as thorough traffic reports using Global Winnipeg's newly-installed traffic cameras - more than any local television station.

Coverage of Winnipeg's rush hour traffic will take the skies for the first time with the city's only television news helicopter. Fiona Odlum will provide live reports from above the city throughout The Morning News to keep commuters moving smoothly and safely.
