In conjunction with CBC's 7th annual Hockey Day in Canada on Saturday January 13, 2007, TLN Television will help make Canadian hockey history with the first ever Italian language broadcast of a CBC's Hockey Night in Canada game. Italian Canadians and the merely curious are invited to enjoy this unique television event.

The TLN Italian language simulcast of the Vancouver Canucks versus Toronto Maple Leafs game will feature the play by play of TLN sportscaster Alf DeBlasis, one of Canada's foremost world soccer experts.

Exclusive Italian Canadian intermission features will also air on TLN, with special emphasis on the Italian participants in the game: Toronto Maple Leafs' Carlo Colaiacovo and Bates Battaglia, not to mention the injured Mike Peca, as well as Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo.

Aldo Di Felice, TLN President, says: "We know that Italians have soccer in their genes but all of us growing up in Canada also have hockey in our hearts and on our minds. We are thrilled that CBC has partnered with TLN on this multicultural initiative that recognizes the hundreds of thousands of Italian Canadians who have supported Canada's game for decades".

"CBC Sports is pleased to be partnering with TLN on this innovative initiative," said David Masse, Senior Director, CBC Sports. "Hockey Day in Canada is a day where Canadians across the country come together to celebrate the game. This is a great opportunity for viewers to enjoy CBC's Hockey Night in Canada in a brand new way."
