OBITUARY -- JIM PERRY

    Veteran broadcaster, Jim Perry, host of many Canadian and American television game shows has died, of cancer, at the age of 82.  Perry died on November 20th. at his home in Ashland, Oregon. 

    Perry's television work extended over twenty years.  His most memorable role was as host of CTV's Definition, which aired from 1974 until 1989.  Definition still has the honour of being the longest runing game show in Canadian television history. 

    Perry was also the longest running host of of the Miss Canada Pageant, starting in 1967 and hosting until 1990. 

    Perry was born James Edward Dooley on November 9th, 1993 in Camden, New Jersey.  He took his mother's name when he broke into television. 

    Perry's career in radio begain in 1960's as an overnight announcer at a New York radio station.  Later that year he became the host of CTV's Fractured Phrases.  In 1967 he became host of It's Your Move which was produced in Canada for US syndication.  In 1972 Perry became host of CTV's Headline Hunters were he remained unitl 1983.

    From 1978 until 1989 Perry hosted various game shows in the United States. 

    Perry is survived by his wife and two children.
