Former CTV Ottawa news anchor Leigh Chapple passed away at home this morning at the age of 58.

Chapple retired from CTV News in May of 2012 after connecting with viewers for more than three decades. Her 36-year career in broadcast brought a familiarity to the homes of thousands in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec.

Chapple was also a long time instructor at Algonquin College.

Her husband Dean Holmes was also a long time employee with CTV. They retired at the same time and looked forward to spending more time together.

Goodnight Good Mourning and Good Bye

From heaven Leigh is looking down giving strength to all who cared
"Don't cry for me, but celebrate, the good times that we shared"
"My time on earth has ended, we'll meet above the clouds and sky"
"For now goodnight, good mourning and until we meet again goodbye".

Ms.Erika L.Gower-Gilan

I was sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Leigh Chapple. As a young woman of similar age to Leigh,I had the opportunity of meeting her on a few occassions many years ago. We both had moved to Ottawa in the 1970's. I will always remember how pleasant, and kind she was,and always a lady. She had a lot of grace, charm and class. She will be sadly missed by all of us who were use to seeing her in the capital and on our TV screens for over three decades. My condolences to her family and all her friends and the public at large who loved her.
May she rest in peace and always be cherished in our memories. Thankyou for all the years you gave us ,your public.
