Rogers Media today announced two key appointments:  Jack Tomik as Chief Sales Officer and Dale Hooper as Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Consumer Insights.  Both Tomik and Hooper will report to Keith Pelley, President of Rogers Media Inc., and serve as key members of Rogers Media’s Senior Leadership Team.

Tomik joins the company on November 1.  In this newly-created position, he is responsible for leading the Rogers Media sales team, strategy, and consolidated advertising revenue across the company’s robust portfolio of assets – Television, Radio, Publishing, Digital – aligning all division Sales (excluding Toronto Blue Jays) under one centralized centre of excellence.  Tomik will also oversee Revenue Planning, Multiplatform Sales, and Client Solutions.

A seasoned veteran, Tomik has more than 30 years of experience in the advertising industry.  Prior to joining Rogers Media, Tomik was General Manager, Revenue Group for CBC, where he oversaw revenue generation for the company’s television, radio and online English-language properties.  Previously, Tomik was principal of a strategic sales and marketing consultancy for eight years.  He also worked at CanWest Global Communications Corp. for 24 years in various leadership roles, including General Manager of BC Operations, Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, and President of CanWest Media Sales, where he was responsible for $1.5 billion in annual ad sales for television, newspaper, radio and digital.  Tomik also oversaw the sales and marketing strategy for acquisitions of the Southam Newspaper chain and Western International Communications.

“Jack is the best in the business.  Not only does he have a veteran’s view of our industry, he also has his finger on the pulse of where our business is headed,” said Pelley.  “Jack’s vision and leadership will be the driving force behind the creation of powerfully customized opportunities for our clients, leveraging our unique and robust mix of assets.”

As Rogers Media’s portfolio continues to grow and brands become an increasingly important part of our business, leveraging the company’s best-in-class brands and creating a more dedicated focus on consumer and audience insights is a paramount focus.  As such, Dale Hooper assumes the new role of Senior Vice-President, Marketing & Consumer Insights.

Since joining the company 20 months ago, Hooper has successfully built brand equity in Rogers Media’s diverse portfolio of assets and has established the company as a truly integrated player in the Canadian media landscape.  In his new role, Hooper will continue to strengthen the marketing centre of excellence within Rogers Media and establish a strong consumer insights strategy.  Hooper will also continue to oversee the company’s promotional inventory management strategy, and will lead the repositioning of The Shopping Channel, which represents a key growth opportunity at Rogers Media.

With more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the media and consumer packaged goods industry, Hooper is one of Canada’s most influential marketers.  Prior to joining Rogers Media, Hooper was Vice-President of Marketing & Insights at PepsiCo Beverages Canada, where he developed marketing programs and advertising campaigns for leading brands that have been adapted in many counties around the world.  Hooper worked at PepsiCo for 13 years in roles of progressive responsibility.  Prior to that, Hooper spent seven years in various marketing and sales roles at Cadbury Chocolate Canada.

“In his relatively brief time with Rogers Media, Dale’s smart thinking, leadership and ability to motivate teams have been a game-changer across all aspects of our business,” said Pelley.  “He has established solid groundwork, which puts him – and Rogers Media – in good stead to move forward as an industry leader.”
