Shaw Communications CFO To Retire

    Shaw Communications, Inc. confirmed today that Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development & Chief Financial Officer Steve Wilson has decided to retire after serving for more than a decade as the company's CFO. The company added that it has commenced a search for a new CFO.

    Shaw Communications noted that Wilson has decided to retire in order to devote more time to his family and to pursue other professional and community endeavours. However, he will stay on with the company during a transitional phase that is expected to last until the end of 2024.

    Brad Shaw, Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Communications, said, "On behalf of our Board and our employees, I want to thank Steve for his significant contributions to Shaw over the past ten years. The Company's financial position and balance sheet have never been stronger and reflect Steve's stewardship and leadership."

    Shaw noted that Wilson was instrumental in helping build the company's foundation for future growth. This includes the company's acquisition of its Media business in 2024, the evolution of its wireless and WiFi strategies, and it recent expansion into the North American datacentre space with the $1.2 billion acquisition of Denver-based ViaWest.
