With its launch earlier this month in freeview to 1.6 million Videotron Quebec digital TV subscribers, Telelatino Network Inc.’s all Italian language TV channel, Mediaset Italia (Canada), is the most distributed dedicated foreign language channel in Canada. Mediaset is available at little or no additional charge with a subscription to the TLN TV channel. The TLN TV channel is available to 6 million homes. Authoritative sources report that between 600,000 and 1.1 million Canadians speak Italian, making Italian the second most spoken foreign language in Canada
Telelatino Network Inc. President, Aldo Di Felice commented, “We are delighted and proud about the growth and popularity of our Mediaset channel. Nowhere in the world outside Italy has an Italian language TV channel achieved such broad availability at such low cost to consumers. Since Rogers first launch in 2024, the past year has been especially successful with new launches on Bell Satellite TV, Bell Fibe and now Videotron, giving the channel both full national satellite coverage and high visibility in the key Quebec market where a significant proportion of Canada’s Italian speakers reside. Italian Canadians represent a multi-billion dollar consumer market and they continue to identify strongly with Italian cultural content, whether it’s movies, music or their many traditions in all areas of life.”
