TSN Unveils Coverage of World Junior Championsip

TSN  takes fans to Ufa, Russia, as host broadcaster of the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship. Once again, fans from coast to coast will be able to consume complete live coverage of the World Juniors across multiple platforms – TSN, TSN2, TSN Mobile TV, TSN Radio, and TSN Digital platforms including TSN.ca – as Team Canada goes for gold at the 40th anniversary edition of the tournament, for the first time produced by TSN in Russia for a worldwide audience.

Comprehensive coverage of the 2013 IIHF World  Junior Championship airs nationally on TSN, TSN2, and TSN Mobile TV from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, with pre-competition games beginning on Thursday, Dec. 20. Along with broadcasting games, TSN gives fans access to pay-per-view streaming of World Juniors games – live and on-demand – on TSN.ca.

Fans can listen to live coverage of all Team Canada tournament games on the following TSN Radio and TEAM Radio stations across the country: TSN Radio 1050 Toronto, TSN Radio 690 Montreal, TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg, TEAM 1040 in Vancouver, and TEAM 1200 in Ottawa. Live radio streaming of all Team Canada match-ups is also available on TSN.ca/Radio. In addition, fans can tune in to TSN Radio’s live game broadcasts on SiriusXM Radio.

The 2013 Championship marks the first time that TSN will be the host broadcaster of the tournament in Russia. In total, TSN will produce and provide the international feed for 16 games, with live coverage of every Team Canada round-robin game, the quarter-final and semifinal matches, and the Bronze and Gold medal games. For every Team Canada tournament game, TSN has 30-minute pre- and post-game shows, and offers encore presentations of the game broadcasts at 12 noon and 7:30 p.m. ET.

TSN’s 16-game tournament schedule also includes live coverage of six round-robin games not involving Team Canada. In addition, TSN has live coverage of four pre-competition games from Finland – with two games featuring Team Canada in action. 

Throughout the tournament, fans can join the conversation on TSN’s official social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google+. Fans can also tweet their comments or questions  with select tweets being featured during the TSN broadcasts.

James Duthie hosts TSN’s coverage of the 2013  Championship,  alongside hockey Insider and leading junior hockey expert Bob McKenzie. Joining Duthie and McKenzie in studio for post-game shows are TSN scout Craig Button and analyst Mike Johnson, along with analyst Jamie McLennan breaking down the goaltenders in the tournament.

Calling all 16 games on TSN’s tournament schedule are play-by-play commentator and 2013 IIHF Paul Loicq Award winner Gord Miller and analyst Ray Ferraro. Both Miller and Ferraro are on location in Ufa and are joined by TSN rinkside reporter Nabil Karim, in addition to TSN multi-media reporters Mark Masters and Brent Wallace.

James Duthie and Bob McKenzie set the table for this year’s tournament on Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24,  on TSN and TSN Mobile TV. The 60-minute preview show includes hits with Gord Miller and Ray Ferraro in Ufa, Russia, a feature on Team Canada goaltender Malcolm Subban, and an essay on the 40-year history of the World Juniors tournament narrated by 1978 legend Wayne Gretzky.

During the World Juniors tournament, reporters Mark Masters and Brent Wallace file daily reports for Canada’s most-watched sports news program, Sportscentre, and That's Hockey with host Gino Reda. Both shows will feature highlights, interviews, and expert analysis from James Duthie, Bob McKenzie, Craig Button, and Mike Johnson.

TSN Radio  delivers live coverage of all Team Canada tournament games, along with the quarter-final and semifinal match-ups, and the Bronze and Gold medal games. Live radio coverage of the World Juniors can also be heard on TEAM Radio stations across the country and online at TSN.ca/Radio. Calling the games on TSN Radio and TEAM Radio are play-by-play commentator Dennis Beyak and analyst Shane Hnidy.  TSN Radio and TEAM Radio will also air select pre-competition games and tournament match-ups not involving Team Canada.

Complementing live coverage on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto, host Mike Richards heads to Ufa, Russia, broadcasting live on location for the duration of the tournament. Along with interviewing players, coaches, and hockey executives on site, Richards will break down the biggest stories of the day and give fans a glimpse into life in the capital city of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
