Women in Film & Television – Toronto  is pleased to announce Ciara Murphy as the recipient of the 2024 Deluxe Producer Internship. The internship is designed to provide valuable post-production knowledge and industry contacts for a female producer with two to five years of production experience.

“WIFT-T is committed to the advancement of women’s careers in the screen-based industry,” said Heather Webb, WIFT-T Executive Director. “The Deluxe Producer Internship is an excellent platform to help bridge the gender gap for women working behind the camera, allowing Ciara a unique immersive opportunity to learn post-production tools from outstanding professionals.”

“We consider our partnership with WIFT-T an essential contribution to the advancement of women in our industry,” said Diane Cuthbert, Deluxe Toronto, Vice President, Sales. “Post-production can be a complex process that combines the latest technology and creative workflows. This immersion will provide Ciara with valuable knowledge and experience in all areas of post as she learns from our top post-production experts and best in-class talent at our new innovative studio this November.”

The Deluxe Producer Internship is an intensive three-week post-production program that includes key teachings about production planning as it relates to post, budgeting, dailies, picture and sound completion, VFX, and distribution.

Ciara joined the independent production company Pier 21 Films in 2024 as a Production Coordinator. Most recently she worked as an Associate Producer on the TV pilot The Beaverton. Prior to this, Ciara worked as the company’s Production Coordinator on Jack, a made-for-TV movie, about late Canadian politician Jack Layton, and the multi-season international co-production Treasures Decoded. Prior to joining Pier 21, Ciara became the first graduate of the newly-formed Cultural Studies Department at Queen’s University, completing an M.A. thesis that explored the experiences of women in the military. In 2024, she co-founded Women On Screen, an organization that works to increase dynamic and inclusive representations of women on both sides of the camera. Ciara also serves part-time with the Royal Canadian Naval Reserves, where she trains as a Naval Communicator.
