Filmmaker Anita Doron is the winner of the Kodak New Vision Fellowship, announced Kate Hanley, President Women in Film and Television - Toronto (WIFT-T).

Presented annually to one emerging Canadian female filmmaker, the award offers the invaluable opportunity to prepare for the Toronto International Film Festival through intensive industry coaching and a post-festival creative mentorship.

"Mentoring this year's Fellowship winner is an opportunity for me to help develop the next generation of directing talents," commented Ms. Mehta. "By working closely with emerging female filmmakers like Anita, we can bring more women to the industry forefront where they truly belong."

Anita will be honing her creative and business skills for the next few months, it was reported, with acclaimed Canadian filmmaker Deepa Mehta and senior executive Laurie May, Co-President of Maple Pictures Corp.

"On behalf of Kodak we would like to congratulate Anita Doron, this year's winner of Kodak's New Vision Fellowship" says Kim Snyder, Country Manager and VP, Kodak Canada Entertainment Imaging. "We are thrilled that Deepa Mehta, an internationally acclaimed director, and senior entertainment executive Laurie May have agreed to mentor Anita. The participation of industry leaders like these confirms the importance of the Kodak New Vision Fellowship solidifying our ongoing commitment to nurturing the talent of Canadian women."

Each year WIFT-T announces a call for applications for talented candidates who meet the criteria that include having at least one film (short) screened at a major Canadian film festival and a minimum of one feature film project in development.

The award winner receives the following benefits:
    • $3000 in-kind donation of Kodak Motion Picture film stock
    • One-on-one coaching with Laurie May to build the essential business skills required developing and marketing projects at TIFF
    • Two-month intensive mentorship with internationally acclaimed Deepa Mehta
