SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - September 18, 2024) - Startups often struggle when choosing a new company or product because the corresponding .com is usually already taken, but hackers at this year’s TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon have a better option as hundreds of new web domains have come to market, including .CLUB. .CLUB is offering every Hackathon participant a free .CLUB domain name to use for their project and will award $6,000 cash to the teams with the best projects using a .CLUB web address.

TechCrunch Disrupt’s Hackathon takes place this weekend, September 19-20, in San Francisco with developers and engineers from all over the world taking part in the 24-hour hacking endurance test to produce the most innovative products and services. An expert panel of judges and an audience of tens of thousands watch as the teams compete for prizes and notoriety.

.CLUB has been an active sponsor of hackathons across the country, as the startup environment is a perfect showcase for the new domain extensions. Many new innovative apps and startups have registered a .CLUB web address, including previous TechCrunch Disrupt winner Alfred Club (Alfred.club); hot San Francisco startup lunch service Eat Club (Eat.club); Justin Kan’s cool EDM site TheDrop.club; mobile app and Y-Combinator grad Glitter (Glitter.club); and many more.

.CLUB is a top selling new generic top-level domain (gTLD) with more than 280,000 addresses registered already, and it’s the first to sell more than $1 million in premium names, with the highest single sale being Wine.club at $140,000.

"It’s evident that startups are eager and willing to embrace a meaningful and memorable domain name, and .CLUB is a perfect choice as so many businesses today are created around loyalty, membership, subscription services, or people sharing similar interests and passions," said Colin Campbell, CEO of .CLUB Domains.

.CLUB is partnering with Domain.com for interested Hackathon teams to register a free .CLUB web address. In additional to TechCrunch’s prizes, .CLUB Domains will award $5,000 CASH for best project using a .CLUB domain name and $1,000 CASH to the company that just registers the best .CLUB name.

.CLUB will also be exhibiting at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, the world’s leading authority in debuting revolutionary startups, introducing game-changing technologies, and discussing what’s top of mind for the tech industry’s key innovators. The conference runs from September 21-23rd in San Francisco.

Participating TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon teams can find out more information about .CLUB and pick up their code for a free name by visiting the .CLUB booth at the Hackathon on Saturday, September 19th.
