European Broadcaster Looking for Powerful Yet Easy-to-Use SoftwareNovember 28, 2005
by -- Broadview SoftwareBroadView Software Inc. and the Icelandic Television Company today announced that Screen One - the commercial television broadcast station operated by Icelandic Television will begin using BroadView for all its programming and traffic needs.
Screen One, or SkjŠr einn as it is known locally, is one of the countryís largest broadcasters and provides over-the-air service to its 300,000 inhabitants. The stationís programming consists of mostly entertainment fare and includes many hit US shows including CSI, Law & Order, Sex and the City, Survivor, Jay Leno, etc. as well as many other foreign and locally produced shows.
Prior to investigating BroadView, Screen One was using an older, home-built system that was not meeting the growing organizationís programming and traffic needs. They also needed integration with their existing Harris automation system.
"We need a system that is very easy to use and includes good programming tools such as rights management, play counts, multi-currency payment schedules and the ability to output our schedules onto the web," said Bjorn Sigurdsson, Head Of Programming for Screen One. "We also need a system that is very easy to use and to learn. BroadView meets all these criteria."
The system is also very modular and scaleable and will allow Icelandic Television to add further channels in the future as the organization grows.
"We are happy to add our first Icelandic customer to the BroadView customer list," said Michael Atkin, president of BroadView Software. "This is just another example of how easy-to-use, cost-effective software that integrates programming and traffic features can help television broadcasters worldwide."
