CanWest to take N.Z. unit public

WINNIPEG - Reports out of New Zealand say that CanWest Global Communications is planning to take its media business in that country public this summer, but will retain majority control.

CanWest owns TV3 as well as music station C4 as well as a number of radio stations.

According to reports, CanWest could make up to NZ$200 million (approximately C$175 million) on a partial public float of the company it controls.
