Oilers broadcaster wins Hockey Hall of Fame honor

TORONTO - Edmonton Oilers' radio voice Rod Phillips has won the Foster Hewitt Award for broadcasting from the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Hall announced its media award winners Wednesday. Sports Illustrated Magazine's Michael Farber will also be honoured along with Mr. Phillips on November 3rd as part of the Hall's 2003 induction festivities.

Mr. Phillips has been the Oilers' radio voice for as long as Edmonton has had an NHL team and started his play-by-play career with the Oilers in 1972 when the team was in the World Hockey Association.
