CTV gets an agent

TORONTO - CTV announced today that with respect to the development and production of movies-of-the-week, scripted entertainment and reality programming in the States, it will be represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).

As "the world's leading talent and literary agency, CAA will help CTV forge relationships with U.S. broadcasters to facilitate co-productions," says today's press release.

Broadcaster CTV has interests in 15 Canadian specialty channels such as TSN, The Comedy Network, CTV Newsnet, talktv, RDS, Discovery Channel, Report on Business Television, and Outdoor Life Network.

"With the shortage of funding for Canadian programming, CTV has been looking for ways to bring more production money to Canadian producers," said Ivan Fecan, CTV's CEO. "CAA's excellent relationships should help enormously."

"There are tremendous opportunities in the international television marketplace for our clients," added CAA co-chairman and partner Lee Gabler. "CTV is a market leader and should be in business with other important broadcasters throughout the world, particularly in the U.S."
