TORONTO - Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment announced yesterday that it has promoted John Shannon to vice-president, programming, executive producer. Shannon has been with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. for almost three years and a member of the management committee since January 2001.
"We are very pleased that John has become a part of our executive management team," said Tom Anselmi, senior vice president of business and chief marketing officer for MLS&E.; "He has been instrumental in the success of Leafs TV and Raptors NBA TV, and this new position more accurately reflects his responsibilities in our broadcast business."
Shannon will oversee all MLS&E; broadcasting productions, including Leafs TV, Raptors NBA TV and Raptors telecasts, as well as take on a greater responsibility in the business development of Toronto Maple Leafs Network Ltd., the broadcast cast division of MLS&E.;
The move also keeps Shannon off the job market since Sportsnet is actively searching for a vice-president of production since Scott Moore's departure last month and Shannon could have been a good fit.
