Bob Laine retiring

  Bob Laine.
TORONTO - After 45 years on the air and behind the scenes at CHUM, Bob Laine is retiring. In his honour, Thursday, October 30th is Bob Laine Day on 1050 CHUM. Bob will join Tom Rivers and Nanci Krant on the air live from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and Gord James from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Bob started on CHUM in 1958, and went on to become one of the great all-night men in rock radio before moving to his daytime slot in 1968. The signature of the Bob Laine Show on CHUM was "Good morning world, this is Bob-o…good morning Bob-o, this is world!"

In 1970, Bob left the microphone to become program director of CHUM-FM, then general manager of a number of CHUM Group stations across the country. Today he is vice-president and general manager of the CHUM Radio Network, and vice-president of special projects, CHUM Group Radio.
