DARTMOUTH, N.S. - Newfoundland Capital Corp. Ltd. has won regulatory approval to begin a new FM radio station in Fredericton.

The Nova Scotia-based broadcaster said Monday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Newcap Inc., had been awarded the licence by the CRTC.

The license will be used to begin a new "Classic Rock" radio station for the New Brunswick capital city, the company said.

Newcap plans to begin broadcasting in Fredericton in early 2005 at 92.3 on the FM dial in that city.

Newfoundland Capital is one of Canada's biggest radio broadcasters with 62 stations across Canada.
