VANCOUVER Dianne Collins joins Channel M today as news director and will be responsible for leading the station's diverse news team and building on the success of the daily Mandarin, Cantonese and Punjabi newscasts and weekend interactive programs.

"Dianne has an extensive background in broadcast news", says Art Reitmayer, Channel M's president and CEO, "and her strong 'news sense' and vision for our in-language news programs will better serve the growing ethnic communities in the Lower Mainland."

Collins has over 25 years experience in television and radio newsrooms across the country, most recently with BC CTV and CKWX. She is a member of RTNDA Canada, RTNDA International and Canadian Women in Communications.

"I am passionate about the news business," says Collins, "and thrilled to have this opportunity to work with such a culturally-diverse news team."

Channel M is a free over-the-air television station broadcasting to three million Vancouver extended market viewers on cable 8, Express Vu 254 and on Vancouver Island/Sunshine Coast on cable 10. The locally-owned station features newscasts in Cantonese, Mandarin and Punjabi, as well as public affairs, lifestyles and entertainment programming in more than 20 different languages and 65 hours a week of top-rated English language programming.
