Norsat Appoints President and CEO


The Board of Directors of Norsat International Inc. announced today that it has appointed William J. Coyne III as the Company's new Chief Executive Officer and President.

In a joint statement on Mr. Coyne's recent appointment, George King, Chairman of the Board, and Ugo Doninelli, the longest serving member of the Board of Directors said, "Mr. Coyne received the unanimous and enthusiastic vote from the Board of Directors. Bill is skilled at taking organizations to the next level of growth and he possesses a wealth of experience in operating established companies such as Sprint and Cable and Wireless, as well as smaller, more entrepreneurial companies."

Mr. Coyne was previously the Vice President & General Manager at Sprint Communications Northeast Division. Sprint Communications is one of the largest
providers of telecom services in the United States. During his time at Sprint, he transformed the Northeast Division into one of the fastest growing divisions and turned around a number of underperforming business units. Dan Dixon, a Director, said of Mr. Coyne's accomplishments at Sprint, "It is impressive how Mr. Coyne mobilized his team to generate the sort of revenue growth that they did.

Mr. Coyne also has worked with or counseled a number of smaller, entrepreneurial companies to help drive profitable revenue growth and complete their IPOs. These include a number of pre-IPO companies in the telecommunications, wireless messaging and cellular industries.

Mr. Coyne holds a B.A. from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia where he received a Presidential Scholarship. He will reside in Vancouver, British Columbia and Washington, D.C..

Norsat International Inc. designs, engineers and markets satellite products for high-speed data transmission.
