Swift Current, Saskatchewan - The CBC has bought some of the assets of a southwest Saskatchewan television station which is about to shut down.
CJFB in Swift Current is going out of business. The independent station carries a number of CBC programs as an affiliate.
CBC spokesman Fred Mattocks says arrangements are being made to ensure that the full CBC network signal is carried in southwestern Saskatchewan.
He says they have entered into a business deal with the owners of CJFB to purchase their transmission assets.
Mattocks won't reveal the price tag, but he says it's cheaper than building new transmitters.
The deal means some changes for viewers in southwest Saskatchewan. They'll soon see the full CBC network schedule, without regional inserts.
