CHUM unloads Team executives


Toronto, - CHUM Group Radio has fired nearly a dozen top executives at its Toronto all-sports station The Team. They include vice-president and general manager Paul Williams.

Among those also dismissed are program director Gerald McGroarty, sports director Shawn Lavigne, vice-president of programming Ross Davies, promotions director Joe Thistel and vice-president of sales Tim Steele.

A handful of producers and administrative people were also fired.

When the Bureau of Broadcast Measurement's spring numbers were released last month, The Team came in at the bottom with a .4 share, or about 106-thousand listeners.

Rival sports station Fan 590 recorded a 2.3 share, or about 396-thousand listeners.
