CFMI Vancouver cited for "sexualizing" children in skit

Ottawa,, - A Vancouver radio station has had its knuckles rapped for a satirical sketch.

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council ruled today that a satirical sketch on Brother Jake's morning show on CFMI (Rock 101) violated a provision prohibiting the sexualization of children.

The skit about U.S. President George W. Bush mentioned ``fourth grade girls'' in a sexual context.

The radio station is required to announce the decision at specified times and provide written confirmation and air checks.

The council found two other complaints about contests on the Brother Jake show were not in breach of the Canadian Association of
Broadcasters' code.

Called ``Wake Up Woody'' and ``Wake up Wendy'', contestants were required to wake up their sleeping partners using innovative sexual techniques.

The B.C. regional panel ruled the content was of a sexually suggestive nature but not explicit enough to run afoul of the code.
