  • UPDATE: Corus launches Dave FM; Chum adds a Bob

    7/26/2003

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry, or in the case of Canadian radio trends, Bob, Jack and Dave, is changing their radio format to one with a base of '80's pop/rock music, aimed at the 35-54 year-old demographic.

The latest out of the gate is Corus Radio's Cambridge-based radio station The Zone 92.9, which changed frequencies and formats last week and is now 107.5 Dave FM, with the tag line "80s, 90s, whatever."

Then the latest Bob came to life this weekend (July 25th) as London Ont.'s Star 102.3 FM became 102.3 Bob FM.

The tag lines are pretty darn close, from Rogers Media's Jack FM, which says he's "playing what we want" - to Bob's "80s, 90s & whatever".

As an aside, how come these new formats are all guys? Why not Sally FM or Cheryl FM or Gail FM? Just asking.

Listen in at www.davefm.com, or Bob FM.
