A new kind of CHUM cruiser

OTTAWA - The future of human transportation has arrived. Never mind a new SUV or yet another "logoed" min-van, CHUM Radio Ottawa has added the Segway into its Nation's Capital fleet of vehicles.

Employing the latest in self-balancing technology, the sleek, ultra-modern noiseless (some have suggested a little peculiar) electric vehicle - something right out of the Jetson's - powered its way into Ottawa today.

Traveling at speeds of 10-to-20 km per hour, the Segway effortlessly and intuitively glides over streets. The HT - Human Transporter takes riders where they want to go with ease, and certainly turns heads doing it.

"Persistence meets perseverance, that's the story of the Segway," said Al Macartney, CHUM Radio marketing director. "It's Albert Einstein meets P.T. Barnum meets Sam Walton; brilliant, fun and inspiring, it's a total wow, and we're proud to own and operate Ottawa's first!"

The CHUM Radio Segway made it debut this week with staffers offering free test-drives.

CHUM Radio Ottawa is comprised of Majic 100, BOB-FM, TEAM 1200 and 580 CFRA. All four stations are located at 87 George Street in the Byward Market.
