  • C-FAX radiothon raises over $115,000

    7/18/2004

VICTORIA - C-FAX 1070 listeners pledged $115,546 to support the "Courtnall Call-In For Mental Health", beating the amount raised on C-FAX 1070 for the charity last year by more than $10,000.

The money goes toward the creation of a psychiatric emergency unit at Victoria's Royal Jubilee Hospital.

The radiothon last week was the first event in a weekend of celebrity events organized by the hockey-famous Courtnall family to raise money for the unit named for the late Archie Courtnall, a victim of mental illness and relative of former NHL players Russ and Geoff Courtnall.

The eleven-hour broadcast replaced all regular programming on C-FAX 1070, and featured medical experts, sports celebrities, politicians, and several people who told about their own struggle with mental illness.
