Former MP Keyes to sit in for Bratina

HAMILTON - While one broadcaster who wants to be a politician runs for office, another former broadcaster who successfully made that transition will sit in for him.

Hometown Radio AM900 CHML recently announced the appointment of Stan Keyes, a long time member of Parliament, as morning show co-host while its regular man Bob Bratina takes a six-week leave of absence to run in a by-election on Hamilton city council.

Keyes, a Hamiltonian, enjoyed a successful career as a broadcast journalist before entering politics in 1988. His studies at Mohawk College were followed by two years at a Barrie television station before 13 years at CHCH-TV.

Keyes, who had been Revenue Minister, lost his seat in the last federal election.

"Stan is a well known and respected local public figure," said Suzanne Carpenter, general manager, AM900 CHML. "It is with great excitement that we welcome him to the roster of all-star personalities on Hometown Radio AM900 CHML."

Keyes joined the AM900 CHML team today and is co-hosting an informative, interactive top-rated morning show with Shiona Thompson.
