Toronto - Yesterday saw the start of a new world for digital television as Bell ExpressVu began airing previews of the new digital specialty services it is launching on September 7th.

Some are showing promotional videos and others are doing signal testing with nothing but colored bars but over the next couple of days, ExpressVu customers will begin to be able to see full samples of the new programming which will officially start in just over a week.

The DTH company also recently signed a deal to carry Chum Television's MuchVibe, launching September 7th. The urban music channel (featuring hip hop and R&B; music videos) brings Chum's total to six channels being carried by ExpressVu.

Chum Television's vice-president, affiliate sales and marketing Allan Schwebel, says Chum's seventh digital specialty service, the hard-rocking MuchLoud, will also launch this fall, likely to be carried on a regional basis in Ontario, with a full national launch to come next year when Telesat gets Nimiq 2 and its new set of transponders into orbit.
