Vidéotron expands iTV, confirms VOD fall launch

Montreal, - Despite a strike by 2,200 of its workers, Quebec cable operator Vidéotron is forging ahead with growth plans.

This week the Quebecor Media-owned MSO added new features to illico, its digital cable/interactive television branded service.

Making illico a "more comprehensive, dynamic and interactive product," says the company, a game portal (backgammon, cannonball, blackjack, golf, solitaire, etc.) and new services like LCN interactive (with information from the Quebecor-owned news channel) and Entracte (quizzes, psychological questionnaires, mini-games, caricatures, comedy, riddles, dictations, etc.) were added.

And starting this fall, as first reported in Cablecaster Magazine (January, 2002) Vidéotron also confirmed it plans to launch video-on-demand.
