Amazon.ca and the Walrus Foundation Unveil Shortlist for 2024 Amazon.ca First Novel Award


Five finalists selected by Nick Mount, head judge and fiction editor of The Walrus; winner will be announced on May 21

The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges including Nick Mount and award-winning authors Helen Humphreys and Richard Wagamese

SEATTLE, April 1, 2024 /CNW/ - Amazon.ca and the Walrus Foundation today introduced the nominees for the 2024 Amazon.ca First Novel Award (www.amazon.ca/firstnovelaward) which celebrates the remarkable achievements of first-time Canadian novelists.

The five finalists were selected by head judge Nick Mount. Mount is the fiction editor of The Walrus, author of the prize-winning When Canadian Literature Moved to New York and an associate professor in the Department of English at the University of Toronto.

The finalists for the 2024 Amazon.ca First Novel Award, listed alphabetically by author, are:

"The judges and I are committed to finding the best books and it will be no easy task to select this year's winner."

The winner will be announced on May 21 at the annual Amazon.ca First Novel Award ceremony held in Toronto at the Four Seasons Hotel. The winner will be selected from the list of nominees by a panel of judges including head judge Nick Mount and award-winning authors Helen Humphreys and Richard Wagamese.
