Univision Canada Unveils Coverage of Copa America Centenario

  • Univision Canada, the country’s all-Spanish TV channel celebrates Cinco de Mayo with the 30 day countdown to the once-in-a-lifetime soccer event of the summer. Copa America Centenario, the 100th Anniversary edition of the South American Championship kicks off on Univision Canada beginning June 3rd with host country USA facing off against Latin American powerhouse Colombia.

    The historic tournament is being played in the United States for the first time and will honor some of the world’s best teams (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, USA), and players, including Barcelona’s front two Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Luis Suárez (Uruguay).

    Univision Canada will celebrate the tournament ‘Fanatic Style!’ delivering electrifying Spanish language live coverage of the entire 32 match tournament in primetime complemented by a starting line-up of pre-tournament specials including “The Best of Copa America” historical matches.

    The explosive live  play-by-play and colour commentary will feature Univision’s all-star team of renowned sportscasters and international soccer greats. Further showcasing its electrifying lineup of broadcast talent, Univision Canada will launch an online “Gooooool Call of the Day” audio gallery which will feature the best daily Goal Calls by the network’s passionate announcers. Univision Canada will also fill the radio waves with Latino Soccer Fever sending out the daily clips to stations across Canada.

    Canada’s 1.8 million Spanish speakers and soccer lovers from coast to coast can watch it free on Rogers. In addition, Univision Canada is pleased to announce the channel launch and free preview on Cogeco TV HD, i n Ontario beginning May 31st.
