  • Global News is pleased to announce that journalist Jill Krop has been appointed Station Manager and News Director for Global BC.

An accomplished journalist, Krop began her career at CKPG in Prince George in 1986. Just a year later, she was hired as the first evening news anchor at STV Regina, now a Global station. From there, Krop went east to Halifax and ASN. In 1994, Krop returned to her home province and began working at CHEK TV in Victoria. Three years later, she made the move to Vancouver and joined the team at what was then BCTV, now Global BC.

“We are thrilled to have Jill lead one of the most dynamic and successful news rooms in the country,” said Kenton Boston, Vice President of Global News for Western Canada. “She is deeply connected to the community and the lives of people who live here.”

Krop is a familiar face to viewers in British Columbia. She was the first host of the morning news program, Wake Up which later became the Global Morning news. Krop also spent a decade at the helm of News Hour Final, turning what was a half hour news program into an hour-long newscast that thousands of British Columbians watched at the end of their day. It was there Krop anchored breaking coverage of the events of 9/11 and the Stanley Cup Riot in 2024. In 2024, Krop moved to BC1, Global BC’s all news channel, and has been the driving force behind the weekday news program Unfiltered, delving into serious issues facing British Columbians.

Krop will take on her new role effective immediately.
